Randy Somermeyer

Mr. Somermeyer is a Managing Partner for BLCN Inc. He has over 20 years of client based consulting and an additional 10 years of operations experience. His experience includes; strategy, business process redesign / transformation programs, rapid process design for major system implementations, leadership facilitation, organizational change, project implementation, methodology development, training and mentoring. Mr. Somermeyer’s consulting and training clients include: National and State level Non-Profits; City, County, and State governments; and the following industries: gas and oil, custom and high tech manufacturing, software development, retail, insurance, trucking, logistics, food and beverage, solar, automotive, aerospace, semi-conductor, telephonic, construction, gaming and mining. While at BLCN Inc., Mr. Somermeyer developed the Integrated Lean Process Improvement Methodology and supporting organizational change tools. The methodology has been successful for defining and implementing sustainable common processes across multiple locations, reducing cycle times 20-60%, and defining a common process blueprint and transition plan for system implementations. To help his clients in developing an internal process methodology, he developed the BLCN Integrated Lean Methodology training program (Process, Facilitation, Business Analysis and Communications) which has been utilized by many clients.

Prior to BLCN Inc., Mr. Somermeyer worked at IBM with various positions including; logistics contracting, inventory planning, Import Operations, Program Manager, Certified Business Transformation Consultant and Consulting Principal. He served on the IBM Process Methodology Executive Certification board. Mr. Somermeyer has spoken at various seminars on Globalization, Business Transformation, International Trade, Linking Business with IT, Organizational Change Management, Strategy to Implementation and various Process Improvement topics and training sessions. He is also a consultative instructor for ESI International and delivers many of their Business Analysis and Business Skills courses. Mr. Somermeyer is a Certified Professional Consultant, a Licensed U.S. Customs House Broker and has obtained ISO 9001-2000 Auditor Certification. He is also an IIBA member.

Integrated Lean Process Methodology Framework

The Integrated Lean Methodology goes back to the origins of process design and incorporates Lean Concepts, not all the Lean tool, but the concepts. This methodology has proven successful for basic process analysis for operational improvement, process redesign in conjunction of a system design and deployment (Lean ERP) and very effective in front of Agile projects, for obtaining common processes across multiple locations. Keep it simple, go fast, and produce results. There are subsequent models on scoping, AS Is mapping, process analysis, To Be and Transition planning. A 2-day on-site training explores all aspects of the methodology and participants work in groups on a real process issue during the exercises.
